CELEBRATING EARTH DAY 2019

Is there a better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a picnic in the park? Yep, there is. Babe and I totally upgraded our Earth Day picnic game this year with Tom Thumb’s new and exclusive Open Nature® earth-friendly products! These compostable products are part of a robust line of sustainable products they have available, including plates, bowls, and cutlery.

We packed up our Open Nature® goods, exclusively available at Tom Thumb in my local area, with some fresh yummy salads and headed to the park to enjoy some time with Mother Nature together. For me, Earth Day is all about re-focusing on our planet. I like to be mindful of my actions and remember to take small steps to protect our planet and the resources it provides us.

Some ways I stay mindful with eco-friendly habits day-to-day:

  1. Recycle!
  2. Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
  3. Conserve water by only running the dishwasher or washing machine when full.
  4. Reduce food waste by freezing leftovers or scraps.
  5. Opt for eco-friendly alternatives (like Open Nature® products!).

So, Open Nature® products are earth-friendly because they are compostable. What does that really mean?

Open Nature® Compostable Items are made from plant based materials, certified compostable in industrial composting facilities. That means the product is capable of disintegrating into natural elements in a compost environment, leaving no toxicity in the soil.

*Check locally, as these facilities may not be available in your area. No current certification for backyard composting.

Pretty cool, huh? So tell me, what are your Earth Day plans? How are you celebrating Mother Nature today?
